A Reading Jacket

I’ve been excited lately by the idea of having a reading jacket made. “Reading jacket” is my own term. It means a jacket that’s specifically meant to be worn when one goes someplace to read. With internet connectivity so pervasive these days, I find the only way to get work done sometimes is to physically distance yourself from any WiFi-enabled device. That means go to a library or café with nothing but a pen, highlighter, and either a stack of journal articles or a book.

Such a light amount of material, however, hardly warrants using a briefcase. But carrying things by hand can feel a bit cumbersome. One solution I’ve been thinking of is creating a reading jacket.

i love this idea.  going to think about rigging something up on an existing blazer.

FALL DAY 2:  The Corduroy Jacket

Leaves are changing, temperature is dropping, sun is setting earlier, your girl keeps complaining about her pumpkin spice latte, and your ipod keeps shuffling to arcade fire.  Things are slowly slipping out of your control.  A lesser man would buckle at the pressure, but you are no normal man.  You are a blogger.  Take the day by the horns and put on that goddamned corduroy jacket.

This one happens to be from Rugby.  Side vents, 3 button stance, suede elbows, tab collar, blah blah blah.  If its too hot for that Harris tweed jacket you just bought, bust out a corduroy jacket.  Layer it over a sweater, over a denim jacket, over a puffy vest.  Wear it with a rep tie and go full prep.  Wear a supreme hat and wait for Tommy Ton.  Wear em with cargo pants and wait for the #menswear tag.  Your options are only limited by your imagination young blogger.

I recommend starting with one in tan/camel and then expanding from there.  You already have a blue blazer right?  Of course you do.
